Dear gaming friends,
IceOps was created by me back in May 2010 under the name Blue-clan. It has been 16 complete years now—which is about 42% of my entire lifetime. What a long and amazing journey! Many people have come and gone during this time. It was a truly great experience with all of you here, and I want to say thank you to everyone.
As you may have noticed, our game servers have barely been used for a very long time now. They cost some money to keep running, which is why I have decided to turn them off. Additionally, keeping the web server online has become a security risk, as the website might have been targeted by recent automated exploits (like php2shell).
I assume most of you here have noticed already, that I have lost interest in gaming and the servers a long time ago. Hey, life is short and I have found some super exciting new hobbies outside of video games. I hope you won't miss the IceOps servers too much.
However, if you guys really want to keep one last server running—and you actually plan to play on it from time to time—we could look into moving it to a different, smaller host. Maybe the Obscurity server? Let me know.
- Current servers will be shut down on the last day of October.
- Domain will expire soon in November.
- The Discord server will stay online so we can all remain connected.
If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a DM.
