I don't know how to bring it to you, but there can be a few dozen of reasons. I'd start with checking what is running the in background. You can also try and find patterns on when it lags.

I have hosted 6 cod4 servers using the cod4x crack on my ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS. When people play on the servers after sometime a lag comes and then goes alright. This lag comes in some interval of time and is occuring eventually. My cod4x 1.7a build in 794 for the gameranger and 1536(maybe) for other hosts. The lag is not related to the ISP becuase I have tested a windows server too on the same ISP.

Please help me how to solve this problem. Thanks......

You need to provide more details. Most likely there are some cron jobs or you are being DoSed..

I imagine that all of you have heard about a guy named "Animal": he is an admin that is always connected and playing (24/7). I think all of you also know that he is always using hacks (roccat and WH, usually). His tasks as admin are limited to ban those, like me, who reproach him for use and abuse hacks (24/7). I play COD many years ago, and perfectly know the problem that free servers have with hackers. I also know it is very difficult to find good admins.

When I find a server like yours, a server that works fine, but a server where you have not created a solid group of good players, I can easily imagine what happened: hackers.

The case of this guy named Animal is one of the most archetypal cases I've found: 100% of permissiveness with cheats, no chat moderation, no moderation game, no interaction with the players to create group or create good atmosphere, compulsive competition ... And overall aggressiveness with anyone who interpellates him.

Find good servers is increasingly difficult: indeed, this server is doomed to disappear. I imagine this such Animal, which for months has appropriated the server, has a lot to do. I hope the owners of the server take action as soon as possible, as the server, as I said, it works great.

I'm currently running a Deathrun Server with the 1.7a patch

but since then i'm getting random download loops for .iwd files

for example: mp_deathrun_dragonball (all my maps it seems)

I know it's totally random because when i restart the server and put mp_deathrun_dragonball

i won't get any download loops

but after couple maps (1 map or 10maps ... no real pattern) the download loops come back for everybody, no one can join the server until i restart the server (or i've made a script that detects those loops and force the server to jump to next map, fixing temporarily the download loop)

Any way, i really don't understand those download loops as i have everything well set and most of the time everything works. (but most of the time ...)

Any body having the same problem? any fix? or tweak to do to fix definitively that?

In most cases such a loop is caused by the map / mod files being different in the server directory and the www-download directory. Make sure that is not the case...

I'm sorry but there is atm. no real solution. There is a bug which prevents '+set dedicated 1' from doing what it should do. Either you block the outgoing UDP port 20810 or you have to edit the file cod4_extfunc.so with a hexeditor and find all used masterserver strings and modify them without changing the filesize.

Just a hint on how to safely modify it with hexeditor: find all "cod4master" strings and change the value of the first character in each of them to 0x00.

If possible edit the cod4 x crack and make it to sent heartbeat to no where and pm me the crack....

Try running the server with '+set dedicated 1'.
